Me, speaking at the World Economic Forum

I have been managing creative people my entire professional career and while it looks easy, the truth is it isn’t. It’s much like herding kittens. Currently I am President of Quirky, the coolest company on the planet. We make invention accessible. Prior to Quirky, I was President of frog, a global product strategy and design firm.

Watching a creative idea come to life is very exciting and the reason I continue to do this. I also find that helping someone unlock their creative self is a rewarding experience.

The creative process equals chaos. The secret is to manage that chaos without compromising the outcome. I’ve learned that the chaotic nature of discovery scares most businesses. They like order, rational decision making and predictable outcomes. The creative process is the complete opposite.

I want to share how I have managed creativity and commerce to work together in a seamless fashion (or at least tried).

The cover photo is my son’s cat, Gentlemen Jackie Chan, affectionally known as Jack.  He fits the description of herding kittens perfectly.

PS: I am actually a dog lover.  My heart belongs to Minnie and Maple!

Enjoy!
